If disaster struck
your family, what would you do?
Where would you turn
for food, shelter and clothing?
Every disaster comes to a single horrible moment for each
person that is affected. Whether it is the devastating
aftermath of a hurricane, tornado or flood, or the loss of a home due to a
house fire, the Red Cross is always there to help.
Everyday right here in the Greater Chattanooga Area dedicated
volunteers are on call 24/7 helping those suffering from loss. Whether it
is food, shelter, clothing or the emotional support of a hug, the
Red Cross is there making a difference.
Click here to hear the Cooper’s family story. When a dryer exploded 60% of their home was
destroyed in minutes. It was the weekend
and Stephanie, Brent and their two young children had no extra money and no
place to stay while they waited for the insurance. Red Cross volunteers arrived almost
immediately, making sure the family received assistance with housing, food and
clothing. As Katrina survivors this was the second time the Red Cross was there
for them.
But
we have an emergency of our own. With a record
number of home fire clients, an expansion of our service area and cuts in
important program funding, our budget is operating at a deficit. We can’t meet
the need and help families like the Coopers without your help. The
Chattanooga Area Red Cross does not receive any government funding and relies solely
on the generosity of those in the communities we serve.
Today, an area family who least expects to be affected by
an emergency will be helped by the local Red Cross. Will that assistance be
there tomorrow? This holiday season please give generously, so that your local Red
Cross is always there when needed.
